Methodological Frontiers in the Cognitive Sciences
This course covers the work and methods used by various cognitive neuroscience groups in Tübingen.
Instructor: together with PIs from various groups
Term: Summer
Course Overview
Methods for the investigation of brain functions in humans are evolving every day. Spectacular scientific findings are often based on new methods or particularly clever implementations and combinations of established methods. In basic courses on the respective methods, we hardly have enough time to introduce such developments, let alone discuss their pros and cons. In this seminar, we will have a look at outstanding studies that demonstrate the impact of new methodological developments in several technological fields: (f)MRI: structure, functions, and connectivity, MEG, EEG, lesion analyses, Neuromodulation, …
Learning goals
- Learn about the work of Tübingen’s neuroscience labs and their methods
- Improve skills in reading, presenting, and discussing scientific papers concisely
